Provence is the land of good food and wine, restaurants offer a wide range of menus from simple to gourmet, covering every taste and pocket. The district is one of France’s largest wine making areas, producing much wine of excellent quality, mainly red and rose but also some rather special whites. Local wine makers offer tastings at their vineyards which are often in gorgeous settings.

Everyday food can be purchased in Cotignac - first class fish shop open in the mornings, small Spa store, plus several butchers and bakers - apart from the aforementioned Tuesday market there is also a fortnightly Friday one (summer only) for local farmers' produce. In addition Aups has a market every Saturday (truffle market in February). Brignoles has an excellent Saturday market and you will also find a large Leclerc (Tesco type) supermarket in its commercial centre. The local wine co-operatives sell very drinkable wines, do consider the Cotignac superior rose or visit the Montfort-sur-Argens co-operative for red/white wine on your way to Brignoles.

For that special night out why not try L’Abbaye de la Celle a hotel/restaurant just outside Brignoles where Alain Ducasse one of France’s most renowned chefs has breathed new life into this historic setting. Fabulous food at fabulous prices!
